In the early stages of Robert Kingsley’s accomplished artistic career, his painting was primarily figurative, but over time, landscapes have come to play a larger and more prominent role.
Our show includes several oil paintings which depict people simply living their lives. In them, Robert demonstrates his commitment to capturing light, movement, and tone in oil on linen and on panel. The figures seem able to step off the surface. One waits for them to move. Extraordinary talent, actualized.
Our show also includes an array of Robert's landscapes. While living full-time in Bloomington, Robert demonstrated his commitment to art by sustaining a 35-year career as an art educator at DePauw University, in Greencastle. His commute afforded him an abundant opportunity to study central Indiana, its farms, fields, and forests, in every season, weather, and in all light. That experience has inspired him to commit to creating landscapes which afford the viewers the opportunity “to reflect on the quality and beauty of their own lives. Our relationship to each other, our earth, its fields, and streams.”
Robert will be present for the opening at The Venue to allow you to meet the artist and appreciate his considerable talents. You may also add one or more of his fine paintings to your collection.
