      Patricia Rhoden Bartels’ passion for art and painting emerged at an early age. Her life-long study of art has taken her around the world; from Europe to Russia to India to Africa, around the world, and more. Her formal art education includes having attended The Toledo Museum School of Design, Bowling Green State University, and the University of Hawaii, having attained a master’s degree in fine arts. She taught art in the Brown County school system for over 30 years. Patricia is now a full-time artist, who resides in the remote woods of rural Brown County.

      Patricia paints plein-air and in her studio. The subject matter of her paintings is mostly inspired by her surroundings. Her paintings are primarily oil over gold or silver leaf, utilizing loose brush strokes and impasto technique with brush and pallet knife. She works large and small. Her paintings are colorful, dynamic, and refined. Simply put, in their elegant gold frames Patricia’s paintings are stunningly beautiful. They are cherished components of public and private art collections around the world.
